#1 Takinoue Park, Hokkaido, Japan

No, it’s not Photoshop. Takinoue Park is literally painted with a carpets of pink and purple moss (called shibazakura). The bright, surreal landscapes attract thousands of sightseers every year between May and June when the flowers are in full bloom.

#2 Pink Palace, Jaipur, India

Affectionately referred to as the Pink City, Jaipur, India is home to hundreds of stunning rose-colored palaces, forts and walls from a bygone era. The iconic Hawa Mahal (or “Palace of Winds”) stands out with her elaborate architecture, intricate scrollwork, domed canopies and fluted pillars.

#3 Pink Sand Beach, Isla Harbour, Bahamas

This tiny slice of the Bahamas boasts three-and-a-half miles of gorgeous rose-hued sand, thanks to the red shells of foraminifera, a tiny marine creature that dwells in coral reefs around the beach.

#4 Lac Rose, Senegal

Lake Retba, or “Lac Rose” as it is known to locals, has a high salt content that attracts a certain algae called Dunaliella salina. This algae produces red pigment to absorb sunlight, dyeing the waters a lovely pink. The shades of Lac Rose can vary depending on the season and include everything between bubblegum-pink to grapefruit-ruby.

#5 Random house in Penang, Malaysia 

The buildings of Penang, Malaysia combine old colonial and Chinese architecture with bright lollipop-esque colours. This magenta arch is just one example of the quirky, fun aesthetic that is so uniquely…Malaysian.

#6 Tunnel of Wisteria Blossoms, Japan

This fairytale tunnel of lilac and cream boasts 150 wisteria flowering plants of 20 different species, each with its own unique shade of violet or pink. Its ephemeral beauty can only be observed between late April to mid May. Visit anytime outside this window and you’ll encounter a “disheartening mass of lifeless, twisted branches"
